We made our way back west across the U.P. today and ended in Marquette, MI. Stopped along the way to admire the awesome power that the wind has over Lake Superior with the crashing waves along the shore. Waves that at time were at least four to six feet in height as they crashed. Stayed at the Marquette Tourist RV Park ($30/nt, electric only) overnight. Wished we would have noticed the great site numbering on the road, because we drove around and around the drive-thru site trying to figure out which way to pull into the site. The numbering of the sites are all backward, they are painted on the backside of the electrical boxes!
We checked out the Presque Isle Park that is only a few blocks from the campground. A very beautiful lake shore park with lots of trails and plenty of access to the shore. Wish we had more time for trails, but it is pretty breezy and the cold is setting in.
Of course we are in Pasty country and we took those to go back to the RV from Jean and Kay’s Pasties. We do have to recommend them from Jean and Kay’s, they have both the traditional steak and rutabaga and the steak without rutabaga and just potatoes. They were a nice warm meal for the evening, which got to be pretty chilly because of the wind and the 40 degree weather overnight.
We had to turn on the LP gas furnace to catch up, but the electric heater worked fine the remainder of the night. Both the cats were pretty clingy looking for warmth.
