Jason returned to the physical office past week and in just a few weeks we will be headed out again. We have landed into Hoffman Park in River Falls, Wisconsin, for at least until October 15. We hope to be here, if the park doesn’t close early, until November 1 and then make our journey South. We have lots to do yet in the RV as we loaded it up on the last day at the house and need to get through those things.
As part of our downsizing we went through lots of memories. One of our best purchases a few months ago, while preparing to sell, was a Brother ADS1500W Compact Desktop Scanner. The scanner is a bit higher quality than we have bought in the past and is WiFi enabled in addition to USB. It is “cloud connected” and we can send scans to various services like Google Drive and OneNote. As part of this process we went through two decades of photos so far of film and photos, scanned them into Google Drive and keeping a copy on an external hard drive. This was essential to our extended downsizing, being able to process “memories” into a digital format.
A visit yesterday to Sam’s Club for a single $5 item yielded much much more when we left, but we found some great things to make life in the RV a bit easier. We found a Kodak Verite 65 Plus XL all in one scanner/inkjet printer. It has a flatbed scanner for stuff you cannot put into our Brother scanner, it serves as a laptop stand to hold up the laptop, it prints of course, takes up a different spot in Jason’s office space than the laser printer did and best of all it doesn’t consume half of the 30-amp electrical service when we print. When we used the laser printer had to turn off everything else in the rig, print, wait for the printer too cool and then turn everything else back on…less than efficient.
Once we leave River Falls around November 1 we will be headed to our new official residence in Bushnell, FL. We are using the Escapees Mail Service and will be declaring our official residence as Sumter Oaks RV Park. This means registering vehicles, getting drivers licenses, changing insurances, re-working our wills (which we need to do since we don’t have a home anymore) and few other things.
We will be taking about five weeks to get to Florida while spending a week each in Cedar Rapids, IA; St. Louis, MO; Bowling Green, KY; Pigeon Forge, TN; Savannah, GA and then Bushnell, FL. Each are about a four or five hour drive apart from each other. This time around we do have reservations for each location, since campgrounds are so full now and especially as the “snow-birds” move to the south for the winter. Sumter Oaks RV Park has been great to work with, trying to squeeze us in for our dates.
We are members of Xscapers which has given us discounts already paying for itself and we just also join Thousand Trails South East region. This membership will give us as much overnight camping as we get in over the year. There are some number of days in and number of days out restrictions, but for the most part as long as we use it 18 days in the year it will make our budget. Our goal is to not exceed an average of $25/night for the month for all camping. Sometimes that means we are paying $100 a night and sometimes we may be boondocking for free to offset that.
It is coming together, there are still some that don’t get it and some that are embracing our journey. This is for sure a journey an exploration of the United States, of our relationship together and what we hope will be an improved medical lifestyle. Pray for us, for guidance, for comfort, for his protection and for also an increased relationship with Him.
